The 72% Advantage: Why Company Culture is Your Strongest Play Right Now

The world seems tense right now. It doesn’t seem like a time to play. I recently put out a LinkedIn poll and asked my audience what they wanted me to focus on this issue. The data do not lie: the answer was Corporate Culture and Workshops.

Since my poll, I’ve been reflecting on what feels fundamental to how well we all work together: company culture. It’s more than just perks; it’s the heartbeat of an organization.

In my experience, one of the most powerful ways to actually shape culture, to get everyone on the same page and moving towards common goals, is by bringing people together. That’s a core part of what we do. The current global tension leads to increased need for stronger internal culture. Strong internal culture is a buffer and source of strength during external uncertainty. It can provide a sense of stability, shared purpose, and mutual support.

C&A Digital Workshop on Leadership & Life

It strikes me that in a world where work can sometimes feel isolating or where people might not feel a strong connection to their colleagues or the bigger business picture, creating opportunities for genuine interaction and collaboration is more important than ever.

The numbers really underscore this. Consider this:

Companies with strong company cultures see a 72% higher employee retention rate compared to those with weak cultures. That speaks volumes about how people feel when they’re truly connected to their workplace.

Furthermore, a study by Deloitte found that 88% of employees and 94% of executives believe a distinct corporate culture is important to a business’ success. This isn’t just a “nice-to-have” – it’s seen as a critical driver of achievement.

Research from Quantum Workplace shows that employees in high-performance cultures are 68% more likely to be highly engaged. Engagement isn’t just about happiness; it directly impacts productivity and innovation.

These statistics highlight a clear link: a positive, well-defined culture isn’t just about making people feel good (though that’s important too!). It directly impacts the bottom line and the overall success of an organization.

At a recent workshop, Christina Reyes shares insights on living a life that is connected professionally and personally.

That’s why I’m such a believer in the power of getting people in the same room – whether physically or virtually – with a clear purpose.

Workshops designed to explore values, brainstorm ideas, or align on vision can be incredibly transformative. They provide a space for dialogue, for shared understanding, and for building those crucial connections that strengthen the entire fabric of a company.

What can a leader do today if a workshop may be in the cards but you want to take immediate action? Here are a couple of ideas:

You could suggest or implement

  • starting with a team-building activity or
  • scheduling a brief values alignment discussion within your organization

What are your thoughts on the role of bringing people together in shaping a strong corporate culture? I’d genuinely love to hear your experiences. Thanks for joining me at the Marketing Playground.
